Yank Sing (Stevenson St.)
About This Spot
Stepping into Yank Sing on Stevenson Street feels like entering a lively yet refined corner of San Francisco’s rich dining tapestry. The dining room offers a bright, inviting space where the gentle hum of conversation weaves effortlessly with the rhythm of servers moving gracefully between tables. It’s a place where moments stretch at just the right pace—busy but unhurried, welcoming guests to savor both company and cuisine.
This dim sum spot strikes a balance between tradition and modern comfort. The atmosphere is polished without feeling distant, inviting diners to lean in and share stories over bamboo steamers filled with carefully crafted morsels. There’s a sense of occasion here, whether you’re seated near the window watching the city flow by or gathered with friends around a table where dishes come and go in a steady parade of textures and flavors.
The menu offers familiar Cantonese favorites alongside subtle surprises, with delicate shrimp dumplings and velvety pork buns playing alongside more adventurous bites like Szechuan-spiced chicken or tender taro dumplings. The charm lies as much in the experience—the ritual of selecting dim sum and pouring fragrant jasmine or chrysanthemum tea—as in the food itself. The sweet finish of mango pudding or an egg custard tart rounds out the meal with a quiet sense of satisfaction.
While the pace never feels rushed, there’s an unmistakable energy that arises from the mix of attentive service and the communal joy that dim sum encourages. It’s a spot where locals and visitors alike come to share a meal that respects heritage while feeling thoroughly alive in the present moment. Reservations ease the way into this popular destination, especially during bustling weekend brunches when the place truly feels like a cherished gathering spot.
Yank Sing’s Stevenson location offers more than just a meal—it invites you into a scene of connection and discovery, framed by the timeless art of dim sum and the always-welcoming spirit of San Francisco.

It’s a clean and tasty restaurant for dim sum, though not everything was deeply impressive. The portions felt a bit small for the price, and a few of the female staff members came across a little brusque. Considering how expensive it is compared to other dim sum places, I rated it by fine-dining standards. It’s definitely an upscale restaurant, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of the very top establishments. As far as I know, it was only once mentioned by Michelin back in 2016.

Wonderful Dim Sum experience all around, we made reservation and was seated promptly after we check in with their wonderful hostess, every dim sum table that approached our table were filled with wonderful delicacy and kind staffs who walked us thru their selections, food served hot and tasted fresh, we had a great time and didn’t felt rush at all at any moment, we will be back.

Yank sing has authentic and tasty dim sum while also being clean with a nice ambience. The pork spare ribs and har gow were good. I love the chilli oil which is mildly sweet, not spicy and has a lot of soybeans. The fried curried shrimp wontons were light and crispy and not too oily. The xiao long bao was a little different from the ones at other places. The broth had some additional aromats but I couldn't say which. Service is efficient and a little brusque for the fine dining prices. The food is good but for what you get prices are steep. Dumpling home/story is still my go-to.

Came here for a private event. Better to take public transit than find parking down here. There was an hour portion of wine and appetizers. I thought it was good and did not feel greasy but the oil did go through the napkins. Otherwise good was good through dinner. Egg tarts and sesame balls we’re excellent.
